Studies show that prenatal perineal massages during the last month (from 35 weeks) of pregnancy help to prevent tearing, episiotomy, or abrasions during childbirth and reduce postpartum complaints.
This stretching technique optimally prepares the perineum and the last part of the birth canal for the passage of the baby.
Did you know that perineal massage...
Before childbirth
During childbirth
The technique
For this massage, it is important to adopt a relaxed position and ensure that your pelvic floor is relaxed. So, lie down comfortably.
1. Preparation
2. The massage
• Massage the vagina by moving the thumbs upward and sideways in a U-shape. Try to relax the perineum as much as possible during this. Repeat two to three times.
A stretching sensation is normal during the massage. However, it should not feel painful.
You can wipe off the excess oil, but be sure to allow some of it to absorb so the skin is well nourished. This benefits the elasticity of the skin.
During the last weeks of your pregnancy, your belly can of course get in the way. If you find it too tiring or difficult to reach the right place, ask your partner to help.
The peri oil spray from shinncare can be used both prenatally and postnatally.
